Description
Tornesi since 1865
From generation to generation, the love and passion for their native land have been passed down. As evidenced by the medal awarded to the current owner’s grandfather, the attachment to the origins is solid and strong, each member of the Tornesi family was born, lived and worked within the company, making it grow year after year. The company has always produced wine, in 1967 Gino Tornesi registered his vineyards with Brunello, becoming one of the first members of the Consortium, as a producer but not as a bottler. His son Maurizio will begin the production and commercial activity in 1993 with the first production of Rosso di Montalcino and in 1998 with Brunello, 1993 harvest.
Five hectares of vineyard cultivated only with Sangiovese, around the Benducce hill and Castelnuovo dell’Abate.
The micro climate is certainly favourable for winemaking, thanks to the proximity of the sea and Mount Amiata. The soils are mainly composed of galestro and stone, this favours good drainage of rainwater.
The vineyards are located in two completely different areas, different in soil, exposure and altitude. The vineyards located at 300 m above sea level make wines more structured, while the vineyards located at approximately 600 m above sea level produce more elegant and fragrant wines.
