Description
Donnafugata Sur Sur Grillo Wine
Donnafugata Sur Sur Grillo is a vibrant Sicilian white wine that showcases the freshness and character of one of Italy’s most exciting native grape varieties. Produced by the renowned Donnafugata winery in western Sicily, this elegant wine captures the authentic flavours of the Mediterranean.
The name “Sur Sur” comes from the Sicilian dialect and recalls the cheerful song of crickets. As a result, it perfectly reflects the wine’s lively and expressive personality. Donnafugata carefully selects the fruit for this Grillo, ensuring excellent freshness and varietal character in every vintage.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, Donnafugata Sur Sur displays a bright straw-yellow colour with subtle green reflections. The bouquet reveals aromas of white peach, melon, grapefruit, and tropical fruit. In addition, delicate floral notes and hints of Mediterranean herbs add further complexity.
On the palate, the wine is fresh, smooth, and beautifully balanced. Juicy citrus and stone fruit flavours lead the way, while vibrant acidity provides energy and structure. Furthermore, a subtle mineral character enhances the wine’s depth. Consequently, the finish remains crisp, refreshing, and remarkably persistent.
Food Pairing
Donnafugata SurSur Grillo pairs beautifully with seafood, grilled fish, shellfish, and fresh salads. Moreover, it complements light pasta dishes, antipasti, and soft cheeses. Its vibrant freshness also makes it an excellent aperitif. Therefore, it is ideal for warm afternoons, relaxed gatherings, and Mediterranean-style dining.
