Established in Wellington, New Zealand, I am Lucas Monge, Founder of Del Mundo, a boutique Italian and Argentine wine importer and distributor of premium international wines. My passion for wine extends far beyond what is poured into a glass. I believe that wine is not just a drink in a glass but the whole story behind it; people, culture and place, and producers who demonstrate a deep passion for wine craftsmanship, the land, and sustainability.
My inspiration comes from the extraordinary bond between Italy and Argentina. Indeed, it is one of the strongest cultural connections in the world. Significant waves of Italian migration began in the late nineteenth century and helped shape modern Argentina. Today, around 25 to 30 million Argentinians trace their heritage to Italy. As a result, Italian influence remains deeply woven into the country’s culture, language, gastronomy, and winemaking traditions.
This remarkable connection has shaped my own appreciation of wine. Moreover, it inspires my mission to share these values through carefully selected wines. Each wine celebrates authenticity, heritage, and a genuine sense of place. For this reason, I carefully choose producers who reflect these principles.
As a specialist Italian and Argentine wine importer, I focus on sourcing exceptional wines from these two countries. In addition, I select outstanding wines from France and Spain.
